How to delete all Gmail emails from one sender

Steps

1. Open Gmail search

   Click the search bar at the top of Gmail on desktop or the app.

2. Search by sender

   Type from:sender@example.com (exact address) or from:Amazon (sender name) and press Enter. This uses Gmail's from: search operator, which matches the sender field of every message.

3. Select every result

   Click the checkbox above the message list to select all messages on the page, then click 'Select all conversations that match this search' if Gmail shows that link, so messages on other pages are included too.

4. Delete the selection

   Click the trash-can icon. Gmail moves every selected message from that sender straight to Trash.

5. Protect what you want to keep first (optional but recommended)

   Before deleting, star or label any message from that sender you want to keep — for example a receipt you'll need later — so it's easy to exclude from this manual selection. If you'd rather keep that sender's mail permanently instead of checking it message by message, add the sender to your Clean Email whitelist so their mail is automatically skipped during any cleanup.

6. Confirm and check Trash

   Messages sit in Gmail Trash for 30 days and can be restored during that window. After 30 days Google permanently deletes them.

Why bulk-delete by sender instead of one email at a time

Recurring senders — order confirmations, notification digests, marketing newsletters — are usually the fastest way an inbox fills up.

Deleting them one message at a time in Gmail's UI is slow because Gmail's own interface only lets you select and act on 50 conversations per page.

Searching by sender first, then selecting everything that matches, turns hundreds of individual clicks into a single delete action.

Gmail's from: search operator, explained

The from: operator is a built-in Gmail search operator documented by Google Support (see Gmail search operators below). It filters messages by who sent them.

You can search by full email address (from:noreply@amazon.com) or by display name (from:Amazon), and Gmail matches either.

Why Clean Email doesn't do a sender-scoped cleanup

• Starred messages are never deleted, regardless of sender.
• Messages marked important are never deleted.
• Any message carrying a user-created Gmail label is never deleted.

Recovering a deleted email from the wrong sender

If you deleted mail with the default Trash behavior, open Gmail's Trash folder, find the message, and click 'Move to Inbox' — this works for up to 30 days after deletion.

If you used the permanent-delete option instead of the default Trash behavior, recovery is not possible; permanent deletion is irreversible by design.
